Here are Some Frequently Asked Questions About the Course…
What is prose poetry?
Good question!
A prose poem is a form of writing that blends the narrative style of prose with the lyricism and compressed beauty of poetry. It does not follow the traditional structure of poetry, such as line breaks or stanzas, but instead presents its ideas in paragraph form. Despite this, prose poems maintain poetic qualities, such as vivid imagery, emotional depth, rhythm, and attention to language. They often focus on moments of intense feeling or observation and may not follow a linear narrative.
What poetry experience do I need for this course?
This course is designed for writers who are eager to explore the prose poem genre. ABSOLUTELY no experience with poetry is required and, in fact, no prior writing experience is required. You should come ready to push your writing further and embrace feedback on your work. Whether you’re new to the genre or looking to deepen your practice, this course will guide you in crafting prose poetry.
Will you provide feedback on my writing?
Yes! I give feedback on five works of prose poetry that you create in the course. I also answer questions about each assignment, your writing, and poetry, in our private community channel.
Are there live sessions, and how does feedback work?
There are no live sessions. All feedback happens asynchronously in Slack, so you won’t need to worry about time zones or being present at a specific time. You’ll have set days to submit your writing, but you can do so in your own timezone. I’m always happy to answer any additional questions.
When does the course start and end?
The course session starts on January 19th and ends on January 29th, 2026. Each course session runs for ten days and writers can work at their own pace, with motivation to complete the assignments, including deadlines to submit their writing for my feedback.
How much does this course cost?
The Prose Poetry course costs $179 USD, with sliding-scale pricing to make the course more accessible:
- 10% off: For writers recently unemployed or experiencing reduced income, without access to generational or personal wealth
- 15% off: For writers facing financial insecurity, without access to personal or generational wealth and/or savings
- 20% off (Access Pricing): For BIPOC writers, Trans writers, or writers on disability payments
Monthly payment plans are available for all pricing tiers.
How big is the course cohort?
To provide a more personalized and supportive experience, I cap the course at 12 participants. This group size allows me to offer individualized attention, and poets benefit from detailed feedback on their writing.
Together, we create a space where you can comfortably engage and grow as a writer. I do this in particular for my fellow introverts, to ensure that every voice is heard and valued.
Since spaces are limited, secure your spot soon if you’d like to join my intimate and tailored course experience.
